Replacements Reunite, record songs, then split up again.

Lots of cool people have been forwarding me this article the last couple days, so I thought I'd post the nifty pic, and this link to the best Replacements news I've heard in a long time.

Sure, it's only two songs, but it's two songs by the freaking Replacements. I am a very happy Westernerd. How much d'you wanna bet that these two songs see the light of day before Chinese Democracy?

Thanks to everybody who sent me this article.

Some New Town

If you're reading Hold My Life, and you've seen this week's episode... well, it's fairly obvious that some time has passed between the end of "All's Fair", and this week's episode.

Eight months, in fact.

What happened to Penny between July of last year and today? Lots of things. How did she end up taking a cab to Phoenix? Why is she going to a diner, who was she travelling with and why? And what's happened with Guttersnipe during that time?

I assure you, all of that will be revealed over the course of this new story arc. Those revelations will come from the comic itself, and also from Penny's blog, as that gap is filled in with information. I'm going to try to run the story parallel in the comic and blog for now, so as Penny catches us up in the series, so too will her blog be updated with additional posts from that time period.

I'm also going to attempt to start a new feature here, posting sketches and behind the scenes stuff from the comic. Hope you enjoy it, and if you do, spread the word.

Thanks, seeya.

All's Fair In Rock N' Roll (or "I Never Thought I'd Get This Far")

"Epilogue", The 23rd Episode of Hold My Life published on GirlAMatic this morning, which is the final episode of "All's Fair In Rock N' Roll, Hold My Life's first story arc.

I'd kind'a hoped that the timing would work out so that I could end "All's Fair" at the same time that the GirlAMatic Cafe opened, and Hold became a free, advertiser-supported strip, but alas, mister Joey is still working on the code for the new GirlAMatic. I decided to open the Archives up as free-content just to celebrate this little mini-milestone.

Feel free to go read "All's Fair" in its entirety, and Penny will be back Monday in "Some New Town", the first chapter of the next storyline. Things are about to get a lot more complicated for Penny Heartbreaker...

High Heel Mary (or "I'm a really crummy blogger")

The lyrics embedded in the first panel of this week's Hold My Life are from a song called High Heel Mary, which is the Plastic Flappybats first original song.

It was written by Greg and I for our friend Michelle, who has crummy luck with guys. The only requirement was that we fit in a line about red platform heeled shoes.

It's a fun song to play live, one of these days we'll record it. Now all I've gotta do is figure out a way to work Greg's "Little Green Bottle of Sleep" song in...
