Soundtrack!
This week's soundtrack is "Born To Ignore You", another fine tune by Doug Bale.
You can hear the song in this week's episode of Hold My Life. And if you like the song, I highly reccommend you check out his other songs on his Myspace page, or even buying one of his CD's
The link is in the comic. Go read, go listen--go Doug!
Busy night
Tonight was a good night.
Not much traffic on the street for Third Friday, but we were projecting Hold My Life onto the front window of the gallery, which really seems to work. Penny's story pulled what passers-by there were off the street, and into the gallery. We sold two prints, exposed people to Penny's story, and hopefully got Hold in front of some potential future readers.
If any of you are reading this: Hey. Welcome, and come back soon.
And now, on to the next episode...

Two weeks ago today, Karmic Calamity Studio and Gallery was open for the first time ever, featuring artwork from Hold My Life, as well as a free concert by Doug Bale, The Plastic Flappybats, and Tony (of Mojo Music fame)'s band. Apparently Tony's band didn't have a name, although he'd joked about billing them as "The Amazing Corsicans".
So that was the lineup for the free outdoor show, which was held in the common area between Karmic Calamity and Tammie Coe Bakery. It was a good show, a good mix of music, ranging from Doug's singer-songwriter stylings, Tony's full-on metal experience, and the Bats' Rockabilly-meets-Replacements set. I can honestly say that the show featured something for everyone, regardless of age group or music tastes. I know we had a blast playing for an audience, and we'll definitely be doing it again, and again and again if I have anything to say about it. And I do. :-)
I also have to give special thanks to Jeremy, an amazing drummer who showed up to play with Tony's group, and then graciously agreed to play on the Flappybats' set as well. I'd be honored to have him sit in with us anytime. You did a great job, man.
The show outside was nice, and Rhonda and I were both happy with the way the Gallery show went inside that night as well. That was the first time we'd opened the doors of the gallery to the public, and it was definitely a gas to do that featuring my own art, which I've never shown to the public before, outside of GirlAMatic.
There are photos at karmiccalamity.com for any interested parties who'd like to take a peek.
Anyway, that was two weeks ago. Tonight's the Third Friday artwalk, and we'll be open for that as well. No music tonight, that's a First Friday thing for us, but we may be projecting Hold My Life onto the wall, as well as selling prints from the comic.
if you're in downtown Phoenix tonight, feel free to stop by 610 East Roosevelt Street and look for Penny.

Soundtrack!
I'm testing out a new feature in Hold My Life this week: a soundtrack.
The music in the episode is "All It Wants" by Doug Bale, a singer/songwriter buddy of mine who graciously offered me the use of some of his tunes. If you like what you hear in the comic, feel free to hit his
Myspace page. He's got more nifty mp3s of his stuff embedded in his profile page, and I do believe you can purchase CD's from him if you're so inclined.
Special thanks to another friend, one Barry Tomack, for stopping by to show Rhonda and I the engagement ring he purchased for his fiancee Cecile... only to end up being shanghaied into hastily coding an mp3 player for me in Flash this evening.
Anyway, there's a little more work to be done on the player so it works smoothly and looks slicker, but I was really anxious to get this done and up there on the site.
